How to actually run the thing

These guides are written for the person doing the work — the teacher building a course, the student taking it, the administrator keeping the lights on. Follow along with your own dashboard open in another tab.

Your first week, in five steps

  1. 01

    Create the academy

Sign up, pick your plan, and point your domain at the platform. On the free plan you skip this — you publish on the shared TKDS learning platform instead.

Domain setup takes a DNS record and about ten minutes of propagation.

  2. 02

    Make it look like you

Go to Settings → Branding and upload your dark logo, light logo and favicon. Then Settings → Theme for the colour palette, and Settings → Appearance to choose the home layout.

Every colour is a token, so changing the palette cannot break a screen.

  3. 03

Turn on only what you need

Settings → Features is a list of switches. Quizzes, assignments, live classes, wallet, bundles, ebooks, affiliates, community, notes, learning paths, guardians, leaderboard — everything is off until you turn it on, and off means invisible.

Start minimal. You can switch anything on later without losing data.

  4. 04

    Take money

Settings → Payment enables your gateways: Stripe, PayPal, Fawaterk, Tabby, Tamara, or manual bank transfer with receipt upload. Settings → Commerce controls instalments, the student wallet and coupons.

Bank transfer is the fastest way to start selling while a gateway account is still in review.

  5. 05

    Publish the first course

Create a course, build the curriculum, set a price, and hit publish. Then read the instructor guide — it covers quizzes, live classes, grading and everything after the first sale.
