Everything you can do as a student
Written for the person learning, not the person selling. Your academy may have some of these switched off — if you cannot see a screen mentioned here, it is not enabled on your platform.
Getting an account
Register with your name, email and a password. Some academies require email verification — if so, your account stays pending until you open the link we send, so check spam before assuming something broke.
Forgot your password? Use the reset link on the sign-in page. The link is single-use and expires, so request a fresh one rather than reusing an old email.
One account, a limited number of devices
Most academies cap how many devices can be signed in at once. If you sign in on a new phone and get signed out somewhere else, that is the cap working as intended — not a bug. Sharing an account with a friend will get both of you logged out repeatedly.
Finding a course and enrolling
Browse the catalogue, filter by category, level or price, and sort by newest or most popular. Course pages show the full curriculum before you buy, and any lesson marked free preview plays without enrolling.
Add to cart and check out. Depending on your academy you will see card payment, PayPal, a local gateway, buy-now-pay-later, a bank transfer option, or your wallet balance.
Coupons go in at checkout and show the new total before you confirm.
Instalments, when offered, split the price across several payments — you get access after the first one.
Bank transfer means uploading a receipt. Access opens once the academy approves it, and if it is rejected you get the reason and can re-upload.
Gifting lets you buy a course for someone else by entering their email.
Taking a course
Open a course from My courses and you land in the player. The curriculum sits in the sidebar; the lesson plays in the middle; your progress saves automatically and the player remembers exactly where you stopped.
Depending on the lesson you will get a video, a reading, a PDF, a quiz or an assignment. Videos have speed control, ±10 seconds, fullscreen, keyboard shortcuts, a quality picker on supported streams, and captions when your instructor uploaded them — the CC button lists them by language.
Notes let you write against a video timestamp and jump back to that exact moment later.
Q&A posts a question to the instructor from inside the lesson.
Community, when enabled, is the course feed where the cohort talks.
Announcements from your instructor appear in the player and in your notifications.
Why your email is floating over the video
That is the watermark, and it is there so leaked recordings can be traced back. It is normal and it is not tracking your browsing — it is just your address, drawn on the frame you are already watching.
Quizzes, assignments and grades
Multiple-choice quizzes score the moment you submit and show your result immediately. Short-answer and essay questions go to your instructor, so the final grade appears once they have marked it.
Some exams only open inside a window with a start and end time. Outside it you will see a locked state — that is deliberate, and it is not something support can override for you.
Assignments give you a brief and a submission box. Once graded you get a score, a comment and a notification.
Grades collects everything — exams and assignments across every course — in one page.
Live classes
Scheduled classes appear on your dashboard, in Live, and on your calendar, with a reminder before they start. Joining takes one tap; nothing to install.
Your attendance is recorded automatically when you join. If your instructor uploads a recording afterwards, a "watch recording" button appears on the same class.
Wallet, orders and plans
Wallet holds a balance you can top up and spend on courses — useful when your academy sells credit, and it can cover part of a purchase with a card paying the rest.
Orders lists everything you have bought, its payment status, and — for bank transfers — your uploaded receipt and any rejection reason.
My plan appears if your academy sells subscriptions, and shows what your subscription unlocks and when it renews.
Certificates
Finish a course to 100% and a certificate is issued automatically — no request, no waiting. Find it in Certificates, download it, and share the link.
Every certificate carries a public verification code. Anyone — an employer, a university — can check it on the verification page without an account, which is what makes it worth putting on a CV.
Messages, notifications and support
Chat is direct messaging with your instructors and anyone you follow, with file attachments. The navbar carries an unread badge.
The bell collects everything that happened: enrolments, new grades, announcements, live-class reminders, certificate issued.
Support opens a ticket to your academy’s staff. It is a two-way thread — reply on it rather than opening a new ticket for the same issue.
Studying on a TKDS academy?
Ask your instructor about anything here that is missing — most of it is a switch.
